Spring is showing off in the Southeast, and we’re loving it!
From the layered, nature-driven works of Hannah Ehrlich and Thomas Flynn II at Georgia’s Spruill Gallery, to the immersive floral interpretations at North Carolina Museum of Art’s annual “Art in Bloom” exhibit, to Atlanta artist Moira De Ninno’s clever collages, there’s a clear thread: organic forms, seasonal renewal, and a fresh take on how art connects us to the natural world. Whether it’s through expressive materials or full-scale botanical sculpures, these shows remind us that spring is as much about creative energy as it is about new growth, and we’re feeling inspired by both. The NCMA’s Art in Bloom show is especially metaphoric – vibrant but ephemeral, the works are created by North Carolina florists to be in conversation with the museum’s collections for what feels like the blink of an eye. For just a few days every Spring, the museum explodes with blooms. From towering interpretations of monumental works to more intimate iterations of the museum collections, the creations are tucked into every corner of the galleries. Nearly 50 designers are part of this year’s show, themed “Written in the Stars” inspired by the signs of the zodiac. Enjoy some of our favorite highlights below.
